‘Stellaluna’ flies at Hillsboro’s Venetian Theatre this weekend

Story takes wayward baby bat to greater heights

Hillsboro’s Bag & Baggage Productions, in conjunction with Portland’s Tears of Joy Puppet Theatre, will present the children’s story “Stellaluna” at The Venetian Theatre in Hillsboro Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7 and 8.

There will be only three performances of the show. The theatre is located at 253 E. Main St. in Hillsboro.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday. The show is appropriate for ages 4 to 12.

“Stellaluna” is a puppet-based version of the popular book by Jannell Cannon, which tells the story of a baby fruit bat who, after falling from her mother’s grasp, lands in a bird’s nest.

Bag & Baggage director Scott Palmer promises audiences “incredible puppetry skills” by Tears of Joy and a memorable show that should appeal to the whole family.
