Political dominoes continue to fall in Washington County.
State Rep. Chuck Riley, a Hillsboro Democrat, said Wednesday he’ll give up his House District 29 seat to make a run at Republican state Sen. Bruce Starr.
“I think he just no longer represents the district well,” Riley said of Starr.
Starr shot back that Riley’s votes on taxes would likely hamper his efforts to win the seat.
But voters will still get to vote for a Riley in the May primary election for District 29. Riley’s wife, Katie, is planning on making a bid for her husband’s district, which stretches from Hillsboro to Gales Creek.
“I think she’d be a perfect match,” Riley said of his wife, a retired administrator at Oregon Health and Science University.
But just as Washington County Commissioner Andy Duyck’s recent announcement that he wouldn’t seek re-election drew multiple candidates into the mix, so could the Riley news.
