Community Action hosts energy fair

Residents can learn about everything from reducing their carbon footprint to controlling household mold

Community Action of Washington County will host an energy fair on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cornelius Elementary School, 200 N. 14th Place, Cornelius.

The free event, which includes refreshments, door prizes, children’s activities and health screenings, includes information about lowering your energy bills and improving the safety and comfort of your home.

Workshop topics will include Reducing Your Carbon Footprint; Furnace Basics; Household Mold Control; and Easy Steps to Greener Cleaning.

Free cholesterol screenings and blood pressure checks will be featured as well.

Kids’ activities will include face painting and a drawing contest. There will be hourly door prizes, including gift baskets, energy savings kits and a $50 gift card.

A free hot dog lunch will be offered at noon.

Presenters will include Community Action, Atrio Health Plans, Care to Share, Citizens Utility Board, Community Energy Project, Cornelius Fire Department, Cornelius Library, Cornelius Police Department, Costco, Energy Trust of Oregon, Forest Grove Light & Power, Green Mountain Energy, Ivan Camacho, Joint Water Commission, Master Recyclers, Metro, MIC Total Recycle, NW Natural, OCDC, Oregon Food Bank, Oregon Hunger Task Force, Oregon Red Cross, Oregon State Extension Service, PGE, Rebuilding Together, Rex Heating, Ride Connection, Tualatin Valley Gleaners, Tuality Health Care, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center, Washington County Cooperative Recycling Program, Washington County Permits, and Worksource Oregon.
