They lined up as usual. And they chowed down as usual. And everyone walked away stuffed, just like it was 1934. For 75 years crowds of hungry link lovers have gathered in Verboort on the first Saturday in November to feast on sausage and sauerkraut at the Verboort Sausage and Kraut Dinner, a benefit for Visitation Catholic School. This year’s stormy weather didn’t stop an estimated 7,500 folks from enjoying the tradition. “This was the worst rain we’ve ever had,” said Greg VanDehey, who helped organize this year’s event. “So given that, the turnout was great.”
