ADVERTISEMENTS
There’s the tree at Rockefeller Plaza in New York and one cut from our own Coast Range in Portland’s living room, Pioneer Courthouse Square.
Our tree lives year round in Forest Grove, growing taller each year. Last Saturday, firefighters from the Forest Grove Fire Department put a new star atop the tree. The official star lighting is at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27 at the Chamber of Commerce, 2417 Pacific Ave. Enjoy the sounds of Christmas as students from Neil Armstrong Middle School sing carols, and then head over to the Senior and Community Center, 2037 Douglas St., just behind the Chamber, for refreshments and more caroling.

Re: Christmas tree lighting this Friday at Forest Grove Chamber
Well I must say I was excited to learn that the tree lighting was going to take place on my birthday! It seemed to make the day just alittle more special for me. Until I actually saw the tree lite up. Are they kidding me. A star on top and 4 strands of lights rapped around the bottom of the trunk. I then learned that the rest of the lights didnt work anymore. I cant believe the Chamber of Commerce couldnt spring for 20 or so strands of lights. At the very least let the community know and ask for donations. What an embarrassment.
