Last week, after a week-long deep freeze hit its nadir and the sun peeked out, pipes burst all across Washington County.

And along with a flood of water dropping in on businesses from broken sprinkler pipes, came a flood of 9-1-1 calls.

Dave Nemeyer, fire inspector for Forest Grove Fire & Rescue, said the calls were coming all morning last Wednesday.

“It’s insane,” Nemeyer said.

Firefighters darted from Jennings McCall to Tupper’s Home Furnishings in Forest Grove.

In Cornelius, Emmaus Christian School suffered serious leaks in its roof from faulty sprinkler lines.
